Cesar Chavez Day, founded in 2001, was created to advance the values and legacy of Cesar Chavez. Cesar Chavez Day allows teachers and students and opportunity to collaboratively conceptualize service initiatives that address compelling community needs.

Revitalizing Education and Learning (REAL), a project of Community Educational Services, trains educators to use techniques that empower students to contribute and implement ideas for making curriculum and classrooms safe, equitable and inclusive. Through this youth empowerment approach, students develop a greater sense of responsibility and ownership for their education.

TEAMS Fellows are required to implement at least one service learning activity with their students during the school year. TEAMS provides support to help Fellows utilize a Youth Empowerment Model of Service Learning and Service Learning Links to connect Fellows to other resources online.

In addition, Fellows are encouraged to participate in the Service Learning Mini Grant Program. The program provides Mini Grants to use towards the purchase of materials and other expenses related to their service learning project.
